Emmetsburg, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — There’s some major money flowing into a project in Palo Alto County. On Tuesday, Palo Alto County Supervisors held a public hearing on improvements to Drainage District Sixty-Nine, which was first built back in 1913.
An engineer from Jacobson-Westergard outlined a project with an estimated price tag of over two-point-two million dollars.
While some landowners had filed objections, the board ultimately voted to move the project forward. To address those concerns, they made a key change—removing the section of the project known as Lateral E.
The Supervisors also approved a five percent interest rate for the project with twenty-year waivers. The engineer was directed to get started on the next steps, including drawing up plans to get bids for the work.
