Spencer Campus Offers Fall Classes for a Third Age

Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Iowa Lakes Community College has announced its fall “Third Age College” series in Spencer, providing two new educational opportunities designed for lifelong learning. The courses are part of the college’s Seniors Active in Learning, or SAIL, program.

The first course, titled “Wonders of the National Parks: A Geology of North America,” is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 15th. Led by geologist and National Geographic director Ford Cochran, the class will explore the geological history of national parks from Yellowstone to the Everglades.

A second course, “Starring Paul Newman,” will feature a retrospective of the legendary actor’s career. Beginning Wednesday, September 17th, the series will screen nine films that earned Newman Academy Award nominations, including The Verdict and The Hustler.

Both courses will be held on the Spencer campus from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and are available for a registration fee of twenty-five dollars each. Additional details and online registration can be found through the Iowa Lakes Community College website.
