Highway 71 Reopens After Accident Near Minnesota Border

SPIRIT LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) – Highway 71 has reopened after being closed for about an hour and a half Wednesday afternoon following an accident near the Iowa-Minnesota border.

The highway was closed at approximately 12:30 p.m. while law enforcement officers and emergency responders worked at the scene about a mile south of the border. Motorists were advised to use alternate routes during the closure.

As of 2:02 p.m., the roadway had reopened to traffic.

No additional information about the accident has been released.

Drivers are encouraged to remain alert and use caution as traffic returns to normal in the area.
