Spencer, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — A Spencer man is facing felony charges after allegedly using a dating app to communicate with an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old boy.
According to court records and a criminal complaint filed in Clay County District Court, 38-year-old Eduardo Osvaldo Elcock Arias of Spencer is charged with Enticing a Minor Under 16 for a Sexual Purpose and Grooming, both Class D felonies.
Investigators allege Elcock Arias contacted an individual identifying himself as a 13-year-old boy named “Dylan” through the dating app Grindr on May 14. Authorities say Elcock Arias used sexually explicit language during the conversations and asked the purported minor to come to his apartment.
Court documents state the “Dylan” profile was actually a dummy account being operated by undercover state investigators.
The criminal case was filed Aug. 19 in Clay County. Elcock Arias was arrested on a warrant and booked into the Clay County Jail.
According to court records, Elcock Arias later posted a $7,500 bond and was released from custody the following day.
