Another Terril Official Resigns

Terril, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — There’s been another resignation in Terril. Mayor Julie Thiessen resigned Friday, and now Council member Amy Ness is stepping down. The remaining four members of the city council met in special session Tuesday evening to accept both letters. In a meeting that lasted only 10 minutes, the council signaled they intend to fill both vacancies by appointment. City Attorney Dave Stein said he believes that’s the prudent course of action and suggested a quick turnaround.

With proper public notice, it looks like the appointments can be made at a special city council meeting on August 19th. Any resident of Terril wishing to be appointed Mayor or to the city council should reach out to city hall or any remaining council member.

Only four members of the public showed up at Tuesday’s meeting.
