PURE Oldies Supports Breast Cancer Awareness!

Did you know, according to the American Cancer Society, its estimated over 200,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed every year?  On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States.

October is “Breast Cancer Awareness” month.  PURE Oldies 98.3 and Dairy Queen support this effort to help raise awareness of breast cancer.

Most breast cancers are found in women who are 50 years old or older, but breast cancer also affects younger women. About 11% of all new cases of breast cancer in the United States are found in women younger than 45 years of age.  One in 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. When breast cancer is found and treated early, the five- year survival rate is 98 percent.

Although rare, men get breast cancer too. In 2021, an estimated 2,650 men were diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S.

There are over 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.
