(Northwestiowanow.com) The Write-in votes in Tuesday’s election have been counted.

It appears the new Mayor of Storm Lake will be Meg McKeon. She currently serves on the city council and had made it known that she would take the position if written in. She got 301 votes. Charles Hernandez received 158.

Nobody had an interest in the Estherville Ward 3 seat. The Emmet County Auditor’s Office says Timn Ahrens received the highest number of write-ins so it’s his if he wants it.

In Cherokee Emily Ulrich got 24 write-ins for the At-Large council seat. Emily Cosgrove got 16 and Jacob Kindwall got 13.
There’s still no winner is Ward 2. Four names each got two write-in votes.
