Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Spencer Councilman Chuck Illg stepped down last week after less than three months in office.
He did not state a reason in his letter of resignation, but told KICD News last night it was because he could not serve and continue his part-time employment with the city.

Illg says the golf course has become a second home.

Illg thanks the voters for trusting him with the city council seat and encourages others to run.

After the city council’s decision to fill the Ward 4 vacancy earlier this year was overturned by a petition calling for a special election, they voted unanimously Monday night to call a special election to fill the new vacancy.

In a special meeting that took less than five minutes, only councilmembers Amy Moser and David Lyons spoke gave brief comments.

The date for the special election will be set by the Clay County Auditor after it is officially requested by the city.
