Truck Strikes Wheelchair-Bound Pedestrian, Leaves Scene

Storm Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Storm Lake police have arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly striking an individual in a wheelchair with his truck and leaving the scene Sunday afternoon.  Storm Lake Public Information Director Dana Larson tells KICD News the pedestrian was taken to Buena Vista County Medical Center with suspected, serious injuries.

Authorities were called to the intersection of North Lake Avenue and 12th Street around 4pm, where a white pickup reportedly struck the pedestrian in a marked crosswalk and did not stop. The license plate was captured on camera and the damaged vehicle was found in the 700 Block of Chlee Lane. 34-year-old Myron Aron was found at a nearby residence and taken into custody without incident.

He has been charged with OWI, Leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, Failure to yield to a Pedestrian in the Right of Way, and driving without a valid license.
