Lyon County, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — A driver was killed Tuesday afternoon in Lyon County after a pickup truck collided with a train just a mile south of the Minnesota border.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at approximately 12:30 p.m., a 2026 Ford pickup was traveling westbound on 110th Street when the driver failed to yield at a railroad crossing northwest of Lester. A southbound BNSF locomotive struck the vehicle, causing it to roll and catch fire.

The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported, and the crash remains under investigation.
