Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Volleyball team hit the road Thursday night to take on Sioux Center for the Class 4A Region 2 Semifinals.

Spencer struggled to get clean digs in set 1, and Taylor Holverson of Sioux Center went on a serving run of 11 points at one point, and the Warriors rolled away with set 1 25-16.

Spencer played a cleaner game in Set 2. Brynn Merchant was able to back up blockers better at the net for the Tigers, but Sioux Center just kept charging forward with attacks and prevailed 25-18 to go up 2 sets to 0.

The backup of the blockers wasn’t quite there in set 3 for Spencer, and Courtney Schmidt, Sioux Center’s leading hitter on the season statistically, came away with some big kills as the Warriors took set 3 25-15.

The 3-0 win for Sioux Center advances them to the Class 4A Region 2 Championship match where they will play host to #2 seed Bishop Heelan of Sioux City on Tuesday.

Spencer’s season comes to an end. The Tigers went 14-26 in the regular season and finished 3rd in the Lakes Conference with a 2-2 record.
