Titans Sweep Wolverines in Twin Lakes Conference Action

West Bend, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – There was Twin Lakes Conference action in West Bend Tuesday night as the Wolverine girls and boys’ basketball teams hosted GTRA.

The Girl’s contest was all GTRA from the tip, as the Titans jumped out to a 19-2 lead after the first quarter. GTRA outscored West Bend-Mallard in the 2nd as well 15-7 to lead 34-9 going into the half.

The 3rd was another 19-point quarter for the Titans, though the Wolverines offense began to pick up as well, and it was 53-57 going into the 4th. The two teams only combined for 7 points in the 4th quarter and GTRA came away with a 57-23 win.

Caitlyn Hough scored 22 in the win with Kamryn Hough recording 17 for the Titans. GTRA improves to 2-0.

West Bend-Mallard was led by Olivia Dickey’s 8 in the loss as they fall to 0-2 on the new year.

In the Boys game, offenses were clicking early as GTRA led 16-13 after the first 8 minutes. The Titans went on a nice run in the 2nd quarter, extending their lead to 10 after 2.

West Bend-Mallard came charging back in the 3rd, outscoring GTRA 16-6 to get within 2. The Titans answered with another run in the 4th to come away with a 64-47 win.

Teagan Hanson was stellar in the win for GTRA, scoring 30 points. Both Lucas Girres and Jaxon Schnell each added double figures in the win as well. GTRA is now 1-0 on the new year.

West Bend-Mallard got 15 points from Kacen Flynn and 16 from Abner Zaugg in the loss as they start the season 0-2.
