Tiger Swimmers Advance 8 Events to State Meet

Mason City, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – It was a big night for the Spencer Boys Swim Team at the IHSAA State Qualifying Meet in Mason City.

In the 200y Medley Relay, Spencer’s team of Ray Kaiser, Owen Van Otterloo, Mason Yost, and Ethan Hass combined for a 4th place time of 1:40.94, good enough to punch their ticket to the State Meet.

Oliver Miller took 5th in the 200y Free with a time of 1:47.22, he will also advance to the State Meet in that event.

For the 100y Fly, Mason Yost went 56.28 seconds to finish 7th.  Yost advances to the State Meet.

Oliver Miller toppled his old school record in the 500y Free, taking 4th with a time of 4:50.75 and advancing to the State Meet.

The Tigers 200y Free Relay team of Ethan Hass, Mason Yost, Owen Van Otterloo, and Ray Kaiser combined for a 4th place time of 1:31.38 and will move on to the State Meet.

Ray Kaiser is on his way to the State Meet in the 100y Back.  The Senior took 2nd with a time of 54.62 seconds.

Owen Van Otterloo took 2nd in the 100y Breast with a time of 1:00.55.  Van Otterloo is on to the State Meet as well in that event.

Hass, Miller, Kaiser, and Van Otterloo would team up for a 4th place finish in the 400y Free, combining for a time of 3:24.32 and will move on to State.

Out of the Eight schools competing, the Champion was Valley of West Des Moines with 458 points.  Ankeny took 2nd with 433 and Decorah was 3rd with 287.  Spencer would take 5th with 206 points.
