Suspect in Custody for Robbery in Spencer This Morning

Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — A Ruthven man is behind bars this morning after a homeowner caught him in the act during a daylight burglary in Spencer. Police were called to a residence in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue at 6:20 a.m. on May 7, where the victim reported finding a man inside his home before the suspect fled on foot with stolen property.

Officers quickly tracked down the suspect, identified as 64-year-old Larry Rolling, inside the nearby HyVee grocery store. During the arrest, police recovered the missing items and discovered methamphetamine. Rolling was booked into the Clay County Jail on charges of 2nd Degree Burglary and possession of a controlled substance, where he is currently held on a $10,000 bond.
