STORM LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) — A Storm Lake man is facing charges after an early morning disturbance.

On Wednesday, December 17, around 4:55 a.m., officers were called to 508½ Erie Street to assist Buena Vista Regional Medical Center ambulance personnel with a medical situation.

When police arrived, they allege 45-year-old Sefton Akin was agitated and yelling inside the residence.

Investigators say Akin became hostile toward officers and other occupants. He allegedly turned physically combative and attempted to disarm an officer’s firearm before being subdued and taken into custody.

Akin was charged with Interference with Official Acts, a simple misdemeanor, and Disarming a Peace Officer of a Dangerous Weapon, a Class D felony.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held on a $5,300 bond.
