Storm Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Storm Lake police have released new information on the armed incident we reported on this morning’s news.

They were called to the Storm Lake Vape and Smoke Shop at 609 Lake Avenue shortly after 4pm. A customer – later identified as 33 year old Miguel Fernando Espin Alcantara of Rockwell – allegedly threatened an employee inside the store, then stood outside making obscene and threatening gestures through the window, and then attacked the employee when he came outside. Witnesses say Alcantara pulled a handgun out and pointed it at the employee, when several of them moved in to help and called police.

Police say Alcantara had a 9mm handgun on his person when they arrived. He was charged with assault while displaying a deadly weapon and 3rd degree harassment.
