Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The Spencer Community School Board met Tuesday opening with a Public Hearing addressing proposed tax levy and budget. There were no public comments, and Superintendent Terry Hemann explained to the board they had to submit a placeholder budget until the legislature settled the budget guarantee.

Hemann also took a moment to recognize Laura Wakefield, who is retiring at the end of this school year. Wakefield serves in the administration building supporting the superintendent, and Hemann joked she has had to “train” 4 different superintendents in her career.

Hemann praised her dedication to the school district.

The next Spencer School Board meeting is April 28th at 5 pm at the Central Administration Building.
