Spencer Man Cited After Collision with Semi on U.S. 71

SPENCER, IA — The Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision early Monday morning on U.S. Highway 71.

Authorities say the crash happened around 6:45 a.m. on December 29th in the 4600 mile of the highway. Investigators report 23-year-old Milton Andino Rojas of Spencer was driving a 2004 Honda Accord southbound when he struck a snow drift, lost control, and began spinning.

Following behind was 31-year-old Nathaniel Oulman of Winnebago, Minnesota, driving a 2003 Peterbilt semi and trailer. Deputies say Oulman moved into the northbound lane to avoid the Accord, but Rojas accelerated into the semi’s trailer, causing an estimated $6,000 in damage. Rojas’ vehicle sustained about $2,500 in damage.

No injuries were reported. Rojas was cited for No Valid Driver’s License and No Insurance – Accident Related.
