Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Spencer Mayor Donovan Wunschel convened a goal-setting session for the city council Saturday. He says that like the private business he manages, the city needs a specific plan of action.

Along with general flood recovery and an effort to grow Spencer’s population, two specifics made it to the top of the list.

Other top goals are to find businesses to occupy the lots in the North Y development area, to rewrite the community’s nine-year old comprehensive plan, and to construct a new public works building that can also house the Park department. The Mayor says there will be periodic sessions to measure progress.

Other topics of discussion were the pending need for a new waste water treatment plant, coming up with an enforceable ordinance covering electric scooters, and continuing to nurture the Iowa Lakes Community College aviation program at Spencer Municipal Airport.
