Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The first ever Siouxland Conference Tennis Championships were held at Speier Park in Okoboji on Friday morning.
Spencer’s Brynn Merchant rolled through the #1 Singles matches, winning a combined 24-5 and never losing more than 2 games in a match.
In the Singles #2 matches, Kennedy Graettinger won the Siouxland Conference title for Spencer, also on a dominant effort. Graettinger only lost 2 games in her 4 matches.
For #1 Doubles, Spencer’s Dakoda Lux and Kate Elser teamed up to go 4-0 in matches, winning a combined 24-5.
Vivian Whittenburg and Aubrey McFarland were Spencer’s #2 Doubles team. They also swept their 4 matches, 6-1, 6-1, 6-4, and 6-1.
Spencer rolled to the Siouxland Conference Title, winning all 16 of their matches by a combined 96 games to 19. According to Spencer Coach Bob Schlaeger, in the Lakes Conference, only four teams ever swept the Tournament.
