Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The city of Spencer has an emergency fund called “Spencer Cares”. During a workshop session Monday night tapping that fund to cover possible missing SNAP and WIC payments this month.

Councilman David Lyons is also the director of religious-based Atlas of Northwest Iowa and said he thinks the needs are covered for now.

Lyons says often the problem is that individuals who need assistance lack transportation to get to the food bank.
