Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A co-founder of the Shayla Bee Organization in Spencer was injured in a semi and motorcycle accident at noon Thursday on the North Y of Spencer.

65-year-old Jerry Faulkner was Northbound on Highway 71 on his Harley Davidson when an Eastbound semi driven by 52-year-old Kenneth Goerg of Cedar Rapids attempted to cross the intersection onto 320th Street. Faulkner was unable to stop, struck the truck, and was dragged until the driver could stop.

Faulkner was transported by ambulance to Spencer Hospital and airlifted to Avera in Sioux Falls. His daughter posts on the Shayla Bee website that he is in the ICU in Sioux Falls with doctors saying his recovery will be long and extensive.

The Iowa State Patrol says the investigation continues. Spencer Police and the Clay County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
