Spencer, IA — Knowing when there’s a weather risk is one thing, but having a safety plan in place is what matters most. The third day of Severe Weather Awareness Week focuses on preparedness.

Sioux Falls National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist Peter Rogers tells KICD News that having a plan in place is critical, including knowing where to go…

Today, the statewide tornado drill took place across Iowa. If you didn’t get a chance to practice at 10 a.m., please do so sometime this week. It’s a great opportunity to see if your plan works and whether you have enough time to get to your safe place.

Tomorrow, as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, the focus will be on Hail and Wind.
