Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A panel of judges at the fair sampled five new foods – and gave first prize to Brett and Sheree Kleve at their “Bask in the Donuts” trailer Sunday.
They say their daughter came up with the idea for this year’s Peach Cobbler Donuts.
And if peaches aren’t your thing …
“Bask in the Donuts” is located West of the Horse arena.
The other nominees for Best New Food at the 2026 Clay County Fair are: Brown Sugar Bacon Twizzles from Side Door Concessions, Chicken Cheeseteaks from Jersey Jo’s, Lily Fries from TnT Concessions, Loaded Mac N Cheese from Stu’s BBQ, and Puerto Rican Beef Empanada’s from La Borinqua.
You can vote for your favorite in the People’s Choice Award. The winner of THAT contest will be announced Thursday.
