Storm Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — A Newell man faces the prospect of spending the rest of his life in prison following a major conviction in Buena Vista County.

Thirty-eight-year-old Cristobal Del Angel was found guilty on thirty-one counts, ranging from sexual abuse and incest to domestic assault.

Jurors determined he repeatedly abused his wife and daughter over a four-year span ending this past August.

The case unraveled after Del Angel called the Sheriff’s Office regarding a neighbor dispute. During that investigation, deputies say he pulled a knife, which led to further questioning and the discovery of the abuse.

Del Angel has filed a motion for a new trial, but he remains in jail without bond. Sentencing is set for February sixth.
