Rock Rapids, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The department heads who work at the Lyon County Courthouse in Rock Rapids have issued a joint statement indicating there was no computer breach during the break-in last week and believe access to physical documents was limited.

County Attorney Nolan McGowan says most information in that office is digital, but that a limited amount of paper information might have been stolen or viewed.
Treasurer Stacy Knoblock says 45 driver’s licenses scheduled to be shredded have been identified.

Auditor Amy Sprock says there is no evidence to indicate voter information was compromised, and they are working closely with the Iowa Secretary of State to make sure all safety protocols are followed.

Assessor Ashley Lewis and Recorder Amie Griesse say their offices were not compromised and the IT Director reports that none of the servers in the building were compromised.

$3,887 in checks were taken from the Treasurer’s Office. The owners of the checks are being contacted individually.

The two men that authorities say they identified on surveillance footage were arrested at 1am Saturday in Spearfish, South Dakota and are awaiting extradition to face charges of 3rd degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, willful disturbance, conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony, and reckless use of fire, explosives, or destructive devices. Lyon County Sheriff Brian Hilt says authorities in that state are making sure there are no pending legal cases against 39-year-old Brandon Lyle High Pipe and 18-year-old Luciano Eliseo Sanchez before they are transferred to Iowa.
