Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The buildings damaged in the flood South of the bridge have nearly all been demolished. Owner Kaurav Randhawa says the one remaining building you see on the Highway 71 and 4th Street Southwest intersection will also come down soon.

The Storm Lake businessman says a small liquor / grocery store is planned for the high-profile property.

Randhawa hopes to have cement work completed before winter sets in permanently so construction can be done by July 4th. If they get a late start he’s hoping to open by September or October.

Randhawa already owned the South half of the block and purchased the North half after the buildings there were ruined by the flood. He says after construction of Beer:30, there would be room left for possible apartments fronting 1st Avenue Southwest.

And – Randhawa says – his demolition crew of Dennis Anderson and Jeff Luft are donating their fees to GO Serve Global.
