Lake Park, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The City of Lake Park is compiling a list of volunteers to help clean up storm damage. Strong winds created extensive damage where metal bins were destroyed at the Farmer’s Cooperative Elevator. There were also power lines down with Lake Park Utilities having to generate power overnight. Lake Park Utilities says if you see downed lines call them immediately at 712-832-3667 and do not attempt to move them yourself.

Dickinson County Emergency Management Director Mike Ehret says several roads were closed by downed trees. Tree damage was also reported in the Triboji Beach area and in the city of Arnolds Park. And the Tatanka Ska bike trial between Spirit Lake and Lake Park is closed due to downed trees.

The City of Lake Park says residents can haul branches to the curbside where they will be picked up by city crews over the next week. If you are not able to clean up your own yard, call city hall at 712-832-3527 and they will attempt to connect you with volunteers who have offered to help.

During our live coverage of the storm overnight on KICD listeners reported trees and branches down in the May City area. O’Brien County Emergency Management Director Jared Johnson says he’s aware of one street in Hartley that was blocked by debris this morning and one semi that tipped over North of Sheldon on Highway 60 due to high winds.

Fortunately, it appears there have been no injuries.
