SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Julie Beehler has won the Ward 5 council seat on the Spencer City Council.

According to unofficial final results from the Clay County Auditor’s Office, Beehler received 63 votes, or 95.45 percent of the 66 total votes cast. Three write-in votes were recorded.

Beehler tells KICD she is thankful for the support from voters.

She says her motivation for running was rooted in public service, not politics.

Beehler says her main focus will be addressing housing needs, particularly affordable housing and homes designed to withstand future flooding. She also praised City Manager Kevin Robinson’s approach following recent flood damage.

Beehler will serve the remainder of the Ward 5 term, which runs through December 31st, 2029.
