Des Moines, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Farm groups including the right-wing Farm Bureau and left-wing National Farmers Union are universally against Donald Trump’s attempt to lower beef prices by importing additional product from Argentina.

That was topic number one when U.S. Senator Joni Ernst joined us during our noon farm show today.

The futures market has acted negatively to the President’s comments, costing the industry millions of dollars.

The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association has issued a statement saying President Trump “continues to create undue harm to U.S. cattle producers, inhibiting their ability to make smart marketing decisions that directly impact their long-term profitability.” CEO Brian Whaley is asking the government to avoid intervention and to let the market function.
