Ames, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Iowa State University is out with the 2025 Iowa State University Land Value Survey. KICD News and Farm Director George Bower says once again Northwest Iowa tops the list.

ISU researcher Ann Johanns tells KICD News although the value of farmland increased this year, the increase did NOT keep up with the inflation rate.

The 2025 Iowa State University Land Value Survey reveals a slight nominal increase in average farmland values of 0.7%, reaching $11,549 per acre. However, when adjusted for inflation, values actually declined by 1.8%.

While strong yields and limited land supply helped support the market, broad growth was stifled by lower commodity prices, rising input costs, and the lingering effects of elevated interest rates.
