Graettinger, IA (northwestiowanow.com) – Iowa’s oldest Labor Day celebration is set to return to Graettinger this weekend, running from Friday, August 29th through Monday, September 1st.

Event Chairman Phillip Schmitt shared with KICD News that the annual celebration brings together family, friends, and former residents who return to their hometown to honor and continue the long-standing tradition.

The highlight of the Labor Day celebration—and its longest-running tradition—is the parade held on Monday afternoon.

Organizing an event of this magnitude requires extensive planning. Schmitt shared that preparations are already underway for the 130th celebration in 2026.

A new addition to this year’s festivities is the disc golf tournament, scheduled for Saturday morning.

Schmitt provides a timeline of key events happening over the weekend, beginning this Friday.
