Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The #7 Iowa Lakes Men’s Soccer Team hosted #15 Johnson County on Friday for the Plains District Championship.

Iowa Lakes got out to a fast start, as Emmanuel Benazra sunk a goal in the 5th minute.

Just under 8 minutes later, Jugene Wessels added to the Iowa Lakes lead.

Jose Valasquez gave the Lakers a 3-0 lead in the 31st minute, a lead Iowa Lakes would take in to the locker room.

The Laker defense continued to stifle Johnson County in the second half, and both Kenta Yagi and Zenn Theiele picked up late goals as Iowa Lakes roared to a 5-0 win, avenging a 1-0 loss at the hands of Johnson County earlier in the year.

The Laker Men take an auto-bid to the National Tournament with their District Championship. It is Iowa Lakes 3rd consecutive National Tournament.
