Des Moines, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) Following Tuesday’s primary elections, the race for Iowa Governor is officially locked in. State Auditor Rob Sand, who ran unchallenged on the Democratic ticket, now knows his Republican opponent. In a major upset, businessman Zach Lahn defeated Representative Randy Feenstra to secure the GOP nomination.

With the general election matchup set, Sand is wasting no time. Today, he launched his annual “100 Town Hall Tour,” planning visits to every single county in the state to connect directly with voters.  Locally, Sand will head to northwest Iowa next month, including a stop right here in Clay County on Tuesday, July 21st at 11:15 AM. On that same day, he will also hit neighboring O’Brien, Buena Vista, Sac, and Crawford counties.

Sand says accountability is the defining issue of this election cycle. He is proposing a new policy that would require elected officials to hold regular public town halls just to qualify for the ballot.
