Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Big Country 107.7 brought you the broadcast last night of a non-conference battle between GTRA and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn in Greattinger.

The Titans started very strong in the 1st quarter, scorching the nets with 27 points while pinning the Hawks to only 4. GTRA would oustcore HMS significantly again in the 2nd 19-3, and led 46-7 going in to the half.

The clock would be running from there, and the Titans still managed 17 more points in the 3rd quarter and 16 in the 4th. GTRA cruised to a 79-28 win as they improve to 5-1 on the season.

Three Titans scored in the 20s, Lauryn Hough led the way with 23, Kamryn Hough had 22, and Caitlyn Hough scored 21 in the win.

Moriah Ottow led the Hawks with 15 in the loss as HMS falls to 0-6 on the year.

The Boys contest was a lot closer at the start, as Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn held a 17-16 edge after the first quarter.

The Hawks maintained that one point lead going in to the half at 30-29.

It was a big 3rd quarter for HMS as they outscored the Titans 15-6, and held that margin through the 4th as the Hawks picked up the 58-48 win.

HMS improves to 3-2 on the year and were led in scoring by Isaac Schierholtz who had 16. Jackson Vogt and Lawton Schipoff each were in double figures as well for the Hawks.

GTRA is now 3-2 on the season and were led in the loss by Teagan Hanson’s 22 points.
