Wahpeton, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A Tampa, Florida man was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare by ambulance after a two vehicle accident near Wahpeton Wednesday evening.

The Iowa State Patrol says 67 year old Robert Spears was Northbound on Highway 86 when he swered into oncoming traffic and struck the Southbound vehicle driven by 56 year old Clarence Horst of Ruthven near the 190th Avenue intersection West of West Lake Okoboji.

The incident ocurred around 6:40pm and the highway was closed while law enforcement cleared the crash scene.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa Department of Transportation, and Milford Police and Fire assisted at the scene.
