ESTHERVILLE, IA (Northwestiowanow) – Estherville native Rachel Gravert is entering the race for the 5th District State Senate.

A former high school English teacher and legal analyst, Gravert launched an independent bid against incumbent Dave Rowley.

Gravert tells KICD her motivation to run came from a deep frustration with how state laws are written.

She is running under no party affiliation. Gravert admits this is a logistical challenge, but one she believes is necessary.

Her campaign platform focuses on what she calls the “S.H.E.” framework: schools, healthcare, and the economy.

Without big donors or corporate backing, she noted that her campaign is a true uphill battle.

Gravert says her campaign website and social media platforms will be fully updated later this week for more information.
