GRAETTINGER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — Community concerns in the GTRA school districts are mounting after officials confirmed financial discrepancies.

Graettinger-Terril and Ruthven-Ayrshire school leaders say the issue involves shared-service records dating back several years.

According to district officials, an internal review uncovered problems in how funds were tracked between the two districts, prompting a third-party investigation.

A joint school board meeting was held Tuesday, June 9th, where several parents and community members voiced frustration over transparency, financial oversight, and district leadership.

Graettinger-Terril Superintendent Marshall Lewis says the discrepancies were discovered during a routine internal review.

He says a third-party firm, TrustPoint, will now review financial records going back several years to determine what should have been billed between the districts versus what actually was.

Lewis adds the district will continue to update the public as more information becomes available.

While concerns were raised about the long-term future of the districts, Lewis says there is no immediate threat, though challenges such as declining enrollment and rising costs remain.
