SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) – Several officials and business leaders came together Tuesday to discuss what data center development could mean for Clay County.

A roundtable discussion was held to explore potential opportunities and challenges that could come with future data center development.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Barry Anderson says the discussion wasn’t about taking any specific action, but rather asking questions and looking toward the future.

 

 

Gyles Uhlenhop with PathOne Data Centers was invited to participate and provide a developer’s perspective.

He says certain conditions would have to be in place before a developer could explore a project in the county.

 

Following discussion, Anderson says the supervisors will work with Planning and Zoning as conversations continue about possible ordinances.

 

Tuesday’s discussion was strictly informational, with local leaders considering hypothetical scenarios surrounding what data center development could mean for Clay County.
