Campbell and Ramirez-Parra Sweep Top Spots for Storm Lake at Final Lakes Conference Cross Country Championships

Storm Lake, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Storm Lake hosted the 2025 and final Lakes Conference Cross Country Championships on Monday at the Sunrise Pointe Golf Course.

In the Girls race, Silvia Kampbell ran a time of 20:19.65 to pick up the individual win. Kampbell talked about how she is going to qualify for the State Meet next Wednesday.

Cherokee’s Grace Woodall took 2nd at 20:34.01 with Spencer’s Minnie Matthiesen in 3rd at 20:35.41. Matthiesen talked about what preparation will look like for the upcoming State Qualifiers.

In 4th was Spirit Lake’s Ella Beck with a time of 21:17.83 and Alexandria Palmer of Spencer was 5th at 21:17.83. Palmer said the cool weather was a big help for Monday’s race.

Storm Lake’s Maggie Dalhauser was 6th at 21:46.44, Cherokee’s Addyson Wilkie was 7th at 21:56.63, Spencer’s Ava Morey went 8th at 22:09.7, Estherville Lincoln Central was led by Hayden Armstead in 9th at 22:12.16, and Cherokee’s Ella Simonsen rounded out the top 10 with a time of 22:25.2.

Cherokee claimed the Team title with 42 points; Spencer was 2nd with 46 and Storm Lake 3rd with 74. Spirit Lake was 4th and Estherville Lincoln Central took 5th.

In the Boys race, Joel Ramirez-Parra won with a time of 16:33.4. Spirit Lake’s Jace Hungerford was 2nd at 16:54.7 with Spencer’s Rylie Koppie in 3rd at 17:11.3. Koppie had a few teammates with him for most of the race.

4th was Jacob Mills of Storm Lake at 17:14.8 with Warren Duitsman of Estherville Lincoln Central in 5th at 17:27 flat.

Taking 6th was Carter Trautman of Spirit Lake and Spencer’s Nathan Rodriguez, making his comeback race for the season after dealing with injuries throughout, was 7th at 17:32.1.

In 8th was Jackson Struve of Estherville Lincoln Central with Alex Placencia of Storm Lake 9th at 17:39.8 and Alexander Ortega, also of Storm Lake, in 10th at 17:42.2.

Storm Lake won the team title on their home course. Individual Champion Joel Ramirez-Parra talked about the development of the Tornadoes.

In 2nd was Spirit Lake with 50 pints, Spencer was 3rd with 66, Estherville Lincoln Central took 4th and Cherokee was 5th.
