Lake View, IA (northwestiowanow) — A Shenandoah man accused of killing a Manning woman will remain jailed on a $1 million bond.

The case dates back to an incident on August 2nd, when 27-year-old Dr. Rylie-Shea Muhlbauer was found shot in the head and deceased in her bed.

Twenty-seven-year-old Joshua Lehman was soon identified as a suspect and arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Lehman appeared before a judge in Sac County District Court Monday September 21 for a hearing involving his bond and pretrial detention.

His defense asked the court to set bond and declare a portion of a new law, Senate File 2218, unconstitutional. The law includes new provisions governing the pretrial detention of defendants charged with forcible felonies.

The state opposed Lehman’s request and sought pretrial detention.

The court kept Lehman’s bond at $1 million cash only and rejected the defense argument that a cash-only bond violates Iowa’s constitutional guarantee of bail.

Lehman remains held in the Sac County Jail.
