UPDATE: Boil Advisory Issued After Water Line Break in Ruthven, Now Resolved

December 26th, 2025, Ruthven, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The boil advisory has been lifted for the city of Ruthven. There was a water main break Christmas morning. City employees scrambled to get the problem solved as quickly as they could.
It is standard procedure after breaks to boil water in case bacteria enters the supply through the cracks. A series of tests are them performed until it’s deemed safe again.
That determination came Friday morning already – only 24 hours after the problem was discovered.

December 25th, 2025, RUTHVEN, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) – Ruthven is under a boil water advisory after a water line near the city’s water plant ruptured early this morning, December 25.

City officials say crews are working to make repairs, but there’s no estimate yet on when service will be fully restored.

Residents should boil water before drinking or cooking until the advisory is lifted.
