Beat Boredom with Winter Break Activities

Beat Boredom with Winter Break Activities

Northwest Iowa Now (KICD) –There are plenty of options across the region for Winter break fun for kids looking to beat cabin fever.

Mark down Tuesday, December 30th. For the toddlers, skip the library and head to the Spencer Fire Station at 10 a.m. for “Firehouse Reads”—that means stories, trucks, and donuts. That afternoon at 1:00, send the older kids to the Emmet County Nature Center in Wallingford for their Winter Survival Camp. Just make sure to register them first.

Teens have their turn Saturday morning, January 3rd, designing video games at the Spencer Library starting at 9:00.

For a build-your-own adventure: The Dickinson County Nature Center is open all week, closing only on New Year’s Day. The winter trails are groomed at Mill Creek Park in O’Brien County—remember, skiers right, walkers left. And in Buena Vista County, Gustafson Lake is freshly stocked with three hundred pounds of Rainbow Trout.

Grab a coat and enjoy the rest of your break!
