ROCK RAPIDS, IA (Northwestiowanow) — Two suspects have been arrested following the burglary and vandalism at the Lyon County Courthouse earlier this month.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says nationwide warrants were issued December 18 for 39-year-old Brandon Lyle High Pipe and 18-year-old Luciano Eliseo Sanchez. Investigators believe the pair broke into the courthouse overnight December 16 and 17, leaving behind broken glass, graffiti, damaged Christmas trees, and other destruction.

Authorities announced at 7:05 a.m. on Friday, December 20, that both suspects were taken into custody in Spearfish, South Dakota. The original warrants included charges of third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, willful disturbance, conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony, and reckless use of fire, explosives, or destructive devices.

The courthouse will remain closed to the public until Tuesday, December 23, for cleanup.

No additional details have been released.
