Emmetsburg, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The #2 seed in Class 2A Region 3 Emmetsburg played host to 7th seed Sioux Central Wednesday night.

Set 1 was back and forth through the first two-thirds of play.  Sioux Central was doing a good job of controlling the net with their defense.  Emmetsburg was able to outlast the Rebels though, going on a 7-1 run to finish out the set, going up 1-0.

Emmetsburg held a strong lead for much of Set 2.  The E-Hawks were able to find a lot more space on Kills, especially from Rachel Schany who racked up 7 in the set.  Sioux Central made a strong comeback though late, getting back within 3 at 24-21, but Emmetsburg were able to get the final point for the win, going up 2 sets to 0.

Set 3 was all E-Hawks.  Calista Joyce was able to hit the hardwood on the Rebels side with 6 Kills in the set.  Emmetsburg rolled away to win 25-11, taking the match 3 sets to 0.

The E-Hawks advance to the Class 2A Region 3 Semifinals where they will host the #3 seed Central Lyon on Monday at 7:00.  That match will be broadcast on News Radio 102.5 and AM 1240 KICD.  Winner of that match will see either the #1 seed Hinton or the #5 seed West Lyon in the Regional Championship at a to-be-determined neutral site on October 29th.
