Weekly Health Update: Chronic Pain

Spencer, IA (KICD)– Pain is something we all deal with in our daily lives, but there can be points where it becomes almost unbearable, especially if we let it go for too long without treatment.

Mandi Ward is a Therapeutic Pain Specialist from Spencer Hospital. She says her services focus more on the long-term and complex issues than the more incidental pain.

Ward says knowing what can trigger a pain response from the nervous system is an important step in helping keep problems from becoming worse.

It is best to have a referral to see a Therapeutic Pain Specialist, but anyone with a chronic pain problem is encouraged to call the Spencer Hospital office at 264-6189 to start talking about what that process could look like.
