Estherville, IA (KICD)– Two local men have been charged with drug offenses following separate Emmet County traffic stops taking place in late August.

Sheriff Mike Martens tells KICD News the first stop was initiated in the early afternoon of August 24th in Estherville when a driver was reportedly seen running a red light.

An investigation allegedly revealed 24-year-old Tyron Porter of Spirit Lake had an illegal substance and other drug equipment in the vehicle which led to him being charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

A few hours later, an Emmet County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated the second stop where a controlled substance, drug equipment and a handgun were reportedly found.

That led to 25-year-old Gerardo Rosas of Estherville being charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm as a felon, driving while suspended, not having proof of insurance and driving with an obstructed view.
