Northwest Iowa (KICD)– Parts of Northwest Iowa got another taste of severe weather as a cluster of storms moved through in the early evening hours.
The storms that became severe in the local area a little after five o’clock quickly went to work producing some large hail in O’Brien and Osceola Counties including reports of stones the size of golf balls in Sheldon and Ashton as well as winds up to 60 mph. As the storms moved east a report came from north of Everly of hail the size of quarters hitting a window pane with enough force that the chunk of ice actually broke through the glass.
About an hour later winds picked up again southwest of Terril with a report of a 62 mile per hour gust being reported to the National Weather Service with another golf ball size hail report in Wallingford.
