West Okoboji, IA (KICD)– The Milford Fire Department was dispatched to the Terrace Park area of West Okoboji about 6:30 Thursday morning where a house was full of smoke.

Fire Chief Jim Carpenter says there were sparks coming from the home’s furnace, and when his crew arrived electric and gas service were shut off.

It was determined the blower motor of the furnace had shorted out, but fire had NOT extended to the rest of the home.

The fire department remained on scene for about an hour and helped vent the smoke from the house. Milford Police and Alliant Energy assisted at the scene.
