Law Enforcement Investigating Spencer Death

Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer Police Department and Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation are investigating after a man was found dead late Monday morning on the west side of town.

Chief Mark Warburton tells KICD News the Clay County Communications Center received a call shortly before noon that an unresponsive person had been found outside 217 West 5th Street.

Upon arrival of emergency crews the person only identified as a 29-year-old man was determined to be deceased.

The matter remains under investigation with an autopsy scheduled at the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny.
